I spend most of my time on Bainbridge Island. I rarely leave, except to go to the Kitsap Mall in Silverdale or to the Central Market in Poulsbo.
When I do leave the island to go to Seattle, I get to relax on a mid-day sailing on a Washington State Ferry. Many others on the island have to deal with the morning and afternoon rush, sharing what seats are available with 2,000 other people. Being semi-retired does have its advantages.
When I go to Seattle, I have a purpose in mind. I love Mac and Cheese and one of the best is Beecher’s (even Oprah says so) in the Pike Place Market. I usually make a beeline for Beecher’s once I’m off the boat and, while I’m waiting in line I recommend who ever I’m talking to try some.
Once I have my prize I head for the closest table and happily munch away. Then, for desert, I will buy a dozen donuts and take them home. If she is lucky, and they survive the trip back to Bainbridge, I may share what few are left (if any) with my wife.
